Mexican Style Bell Pepper Puree

Bell peppers are considered nutritious and delicious vegetables that can be a great addition to the diet of your little one. They are a good choice for your baby from a nutritional point of view.

In this article, we give you a recipe for baby food with bell pepper in a Mexican style, with sweet corn, beef, and beans. This is quite a heavy dish, so it might be a little more difficult for a young baby to digest.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bell pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of sweet corn (canned)
  • 2.2 oz of minced beef (65 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons of black beans (canned)

Instructions:

Step 1 – Wash the bell pepper well and remove the stem by cutting around it with a sharp knife.

Step 2 – Halve it lengthwise and remove the core and the seeds.

Step 3 – Grill the bell pepper until the skin blackens.

Step 4 – Put the bell pepper in a plastic (sandwich) bag and leave it to cool. The skin should now peel away very easily.

Step 5 – Cook the minced beef in a saucepan with boiling water for 10 minutes. Make sure there isn’t a pink spot left.

Step 6 – Cook the corn and black beans for about 5 minutes, until they’ve become soft.

Step 7 – Mix all the ingredients into a nice puree, using a blender or magic bullet. You can add a little bit of water or formula if the puree is too thick. But be careful not to make the puree too runny.

When can a baby eat bell pepper?

When your baby can eat bell pepper depends on the capabilities of your little one to swallow and digest the vegetables. Small chunks of this vegetable might cause a choking hazard to children, who are less than four months old. Hence, you can start to feed your child with these vegetables in a runny puree when they attain the age of 6 months.
