Bell Pepper, Chicken, and Rice

Bell peppers are considered nutritious and delicious vegetables that can be a great addition to the diet of your little one. They are a good choice for your baby from a nutritional point of view.

In this article, we give you a recipe for baby food with bell pepper, chicken, and rice. Although this recipe is for baby’s age 6-8 months+, we recommend that you start with easy 1 ingredient purees.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bell pepper
  • 1.1 oz of rice (35 grams)
  • 2.2 oz of chicken (65 grams)

Instructions:

Step 1 – Wash the bell pepper well and remove the stem by cutting around it with a sharp knife.

Step 2 – Halve it lengthwise and remove the core and the seeds.

Step 3 – Grill the bell pepper until the skin blackens.

Step 4 – Put the bell pepper in a plastic (sandwich) bag and leave it to cool. The skin should now peel away very easily.

Step 5 – Cook the rice for about 8-10 minutes, until cooked.

Step 6 – Make sure the chicken is skinless, boneless and muscles etcetera are removed. Chop the chicken into pieces.

Step 7 – Cook the chicken in a saucepan with boiling water. After about 8-10 minutes the chicken will be cooked. Make sure there are no pink spots left. The white foam forming on top of the water is just protein, so don’t worry.

Step 8 – Add all the ingredients to a blender or magic bullet and mix them into a puree. Add a little water or formula if needed.

When can a baby eat bell pepper?

When your baby can eat bell pepper depends on the capabilities of your little one to swallow and digest the vegetables. Small chunks of this vegetable might cause a choking hazard to children, who are less than four months old. Hence, you can start to feed your child with these vegetables in a runny puree when they attain the age of 6 months.

How to introduce bell peppers to your baby?

You can introduce bell pepper to your baby in cooked form. You can chop them and add them to stews and casseroles. Now, heat them on a flat and they will soften once the dish is cooked. A wide assortment of parents prefers to cook them with eggplants, tomatoes, zucchini, in the oven till they become soft, thereby making the ideal food for your baby. You can consider adding these vegetables with other food items, they love to eat.

You can also cut them into slices, dip them into cream cheese and serve them to your baby as finger food once they are a little bit older.

Can you freeze this recipe?

You can store your bell pepper puree in an airtight container in the fridge for about 72 hours.

You can also freeze them, so you can store them up to about 3 months.
